darcys mums choc chip cookies from the cafe
this is the first thing we made in the oven that our landlord gave to us instead of fixing the actual oven in the kitchen. the recipe is from darcy’s mum – she used to make them for the café and darcy grew up eating them. he still eats them heaps and they rarely last 48hrs at 29 [redacted] st.
ingredients
- 180g salted butter
- 1/2 caster sugar
- 125ml condensed milk
- 1 1/2 cup self raising flour
- 250g choc chips (whichever u prefer)
preheat oven to 180C, prepare baking tray. you will need an electric mixer
- soften butter in the microwave and add to a large bowl
- add sugar into bowl and mix with an electric mixer until combined
- slowly add the condensed milk and continue mixing (you may need to spoon it out because it gets very sticky!:
- add in the flour slowly and continue mixing until its all combined
- fold choc chips into the bowl
- roll dough into balls of about 1 - 1.5tsp and press with a floured fork
- cook for about 10-12 mins in the oven (or until golden brown) and set aside to cool! they taste both rlly good straight out of the oven, and also the next day completely cooled!
notes
if the batter is too sticky, add some more flour. It shouldn’t be sticky enough to cling to your hands. think of it like underactivated slime – it shouldn’t be like that. adding more flour won’t make it taste bad bcs of the condensed milk. The condensed milk makes it taste creamy uwuwu :o
